Here’s something a little different. I logged off of CoD so I could watch some Netflix, and three hours after playing against this RMP, he messaged me. I’ve documented the messages I received, and my responses.
I’m surprised it took him so long to realize I was messing with him and give up.

I just read your “Case in Point” article. Oy.
I’ve been playing FPS, RTS, and MMORPG for a bit over 16 years now and have never gotten anything worse than “Girls don’t play Starcraft” my junior year of high school and “You really need a boyfriend” while on a killing spree. I guess I should count myself lucky that I just couldn’t deal with Halo’s controls on the 360.
For what it’s worth, I think you handle all this crap wonderfully. When someone asks me if I’m “really a girl,” my usual response is that it’s irrelevant to them because we won’t be having sex. It either interjects humor enough to make them comfortable with me or shuts them up 99% of the time.
I also don’t car for the fat/ugly bit, not only because it’s insulting and ridiculous but because, as with gender, it’s irrelevant on an electronic game. It really doesn’t matter if I’m a 1000-pound Quasimodo clone if I can hand you your nicely-giftwrapped ass. Sadly, I think a lot of these guys insult you because they see you as a convenient surrogate for your male teammates’ moms.
