Do you know who Megaman Zero is? This is without a doubt one of the most famous games ever released for the Game Boy Advance (GBA).
Megaman Zero is one of the most difficult releases in the Megaman series, and it is certainly not for everyone. Whether you’ve played any of the other Megaman games, such as Megaman X, or not, Megaman Zero is one of the most demanding releases in the genre.
This is not a game for the weak of heart or the impatient.
Megaman’s developers, Capcom, purposefully strayed from some of the franchise’s classic concepts in order to add new features and twists to this game.
This is the game for you if you like a good challenge.
What exactly is Megaman Zero?
Mega Man Zero (also known as Rockman Zero) is a famous action and role-playing video game for the Game Boy Advance that was published in 2002. (GBA). This is Megaman’s third appearance on the Game Boy Advance.
In this game, Zero is charged with completing many side-scrolling levels by fulfilling different goals, fighting enemies, and facing strong bosses and mini-bosses, much like in the original Mega Man video games.
This is the exciting part; as we all know, every excellent game has a fantastic history. This one works as well.
So here we go…
For the Reploid race of androids, it’s a bleak situation. After the globe was plagued by continuous conflict, mankind turned against them, and Neo Arcadia, the one location in the world that had been a haven of calm and safety from the turmoil, now persecutes Reploids without justification.
Ciel, a gifted young scientist, has aided in the formation of a Resistance against Neo Arcadia, although they are vastly outmanned in terms of weapons and personnel. Ciel leads a group of warriors to a place believed to lock away a legendary Reploid known as Zero, who is being pursued by their enemy’ troops, in a desperate attempt for survival.
Ciel, who has already suffered a great deal, seizes the opportunity to reawaken Zero. When she finds the Reploid in stasis, but severely corroded and dead, her bet pays off. Ciel utilizes the Cyber-strength Elf’s to return Zero to his former glory, and the Reploid comes to life.
Zero rescues Ciel from imminent death despite his foggy recollections due to hibernation illness, and he vows to join her cause. Ciel, on the other hand, has hidden some dark truths from Zero about this new age he’s now living in.
As the story progresses, Zero will learn the realities behind these never-ending conflicts, some of which may be beyond repulsive. But he is not alone: in the guise of a strange, prismatic sphere of light, a former friend has returned to aid the Reploid in his battle to free the Reploids.
Who wouldn’t want to play a game with such a compelling backstory?
It’s your opportunity to avert the coming catastrophe and rescue the planet.
Are you up for it?
7 Steps to Playing Megaman Zero
It’s time to get started now that we’ve heard the backstory and have a basic idea of what’s required.
As I previously said, this game is difficult and may be frightening if you don’t know what to do. So, to help you get a grip on things, we’ve put up a seven-step plan that you may follow (or contemplate) to make your life simpler while trying to play.
To play this game, follow these seven steps:
First, read the game’s instruction manual.
Please read the instructions before playing, as basic as it may seem.
Why? Because this is one of the most challenging games ever released on the GBA. The game’s difficulty is so severe that people who aren’t acquainted with the series may find themselves unable to go very far.
Going through the instructions will familiarize you with the fundamental requirements for completing the game. Megaman Zero requires constant alertness, being on your toes at all times, and, most importantly, being able to identify and exploit trends in opponent movement.
In addition to the game’s complexity, Zero only has one life at a time, so if you die in the middle of a level, you’ll have to use a continue. Thankfully, additional continues may be accumulated by defeating different opponents.
Extra time spent in a level, on the other hand, lowers your rating for that level, so you’ll have to put up a show to earn the best score. The game is unquestionably tough, but it is also unquestionably conquerable.
Step 2: Educate Yourself on Weapons and Elements
In the game, there are four weapons to choose from. Understanding how they function at different levels is crucial to winning this game.
The following is a list of these weapons in alphabetical order:
Z-Buster is the first weapon.
This is a rifle-style weapon with a great range. As you go through the stages, it gets more power and shoots faster. However, after four levels, it achieves its maximum capacity and can no longer level up. It is your main weapon and the weapon with which you begin the game.
Z- Saber is the second weapon.
The Z-saber is given to you by an unknown source at the conclusion of your first mission. This is your most powerful weapon, and you may be using it the most. It has a total of seven levels. It also improves attack speed, attack strength, and attack diversity as you go through the stages.
Triple Rod (weapon #3)
This weapon is made for you by a Resistance engineer. When completely improved, it attacks in all directions and has a very long range. Over the levels, its improvements, attack range, attack speed, and attack strength grow. This is the ideal weapon for attacking opponents that are difficult to reach.
Shield Boomerang is the fourth weapon.
This is more of a defensive weapon than an offensive one. It’s a little worthless when it comes to killing opponents, but it’s a great shield when you’re attempting to go through missions without killing anybody.
It has two tiers that concentrate on the distance traveled when fired out, however as I previously said, it is essentially worthless as an offensive force.
These are options for increasing or decreasing the amount of damage you can cause. They are as follows:
Damage is never decreased or enhanced while doing non-elemental damage.
Stuns opponents for a brief time with electricity.
Fire: Sets opponents ablaze for a brief time.
Ice: Freezes your opponents for a brief time.
Step 3: Make Sure Your Weapons Are Fully Charged
Anyone who has played the Mega Man games knows how important it is to charge your weapon before going through the boss doors so that you may launch a powerful assault straight away.
The boss in this game will always have a brief introduction animation and, in most cases, some dialogue. If you charge up your buster beforehand and let go of the button as the “Warning” appears on the screen to mark the start of the fight, Zero will fire as soon as the game starts.
Although it may seem self-evident, you should maintain your weapons charged at all times.
It’s not always required, but if you’re unfamiliar with the layout of the levels, it may save you a lot of time and aggravation.
Many times, even very early on, something will appear on the screen and you will only have a split second to respond before it hits you in the stomach or shoots you in the face. Freaking out and firing that charged shot at random may save your life!
Step #4: Concentrate on Increasing Your E-Crystal Inventory
There are things in most video games that are considered valuable money.
Coins are the money in many games. Megaman Zero collects “energen crystals” (E-Crystals).
During the game, these crystals are quite useful. No, they can’t give you more lives, but they can help with the growth and leveling up of Cyber Elves, a new feature to the game.
Because crystals are so important to the game’s conclusion, it’s your responsibility to know where to find them.
For example, after you’ve completed the first task, return to the location and locate a spider web; do not destroy the web, just the spiders; in a few minutes, you’ll have a large number of crystals.
Use Cyber Elves in Step #5
You’ll discover a brand-new addition to the franchise in the shape of the “cyber elf” system as you battle your way through the game.
Zero will discover these cyber elves by killing opponents or by searching for them in secret places throughout each level.
After you’ve completed the level and returned to base, you may see what your newly discovered cyber elf can do for you. There are over 70 different elves to gather and bring to life, each with unique powers like as harming the boss’s character, replenishing Zero’s health, and slowing opponents down.
To make things a bit more interesting, an elf vanishes once you use it. This necessitates careful consideration of some of the more formidable ones you’ll encounter.
Step #6 Pay Attention to Your Ranking
In the game, the Rank system is introduced.
A player will start at Rank F and may progress to D, C, B, A, and S. (D being poor and S being excellent). When you fight a boss in A or S, you will be subjected to “special” assaults.
Your rating is determined by how successfully you accomplish a task in terms of opponents destroyed, time spent, accuracy, and so on.
Unlike the majority of prior Megaman games, the level layout is more mission-based, with the player frequently being required to accomplish extra tasks after killing the level’s monster boss. These goals may include anything from rescuing trapped friends to fleeing a crumbling region.
The addition of the idea of cyber elves, which may enhance Zero’s skills, has an impact on rank as well. Cyber Elves have a negative impact on a player’s total score and rank.

Pro tip: Become familiar with Megaman Zero’s many modes.
What good is a fantastic game if there’s just one mode to master?
If you fulfill specific requirements, you may unlock three extra modes in Megaman Zero.
Here’s a rundown of the modes and their objectives:
Hard Mode is unlocked after completing the game once. When starting a new game, hold down the “L” key to play on hard mode.
In this mode, Zero suffers 50% more damage from his opponents, is unable to utilize Cyber Elves, and weapons are unable to gain experience, level up, or get fully charged.
Jackson Mode is often known as “Hard Mode” when it comes to Jackson. This mode may be unlocked either gathering and upgrading all Cyber Elfs in regular mode or by completing every task in Hard Mode with an A rating or better. Zero begins this level with the Jackson Elf as well as all of the Cyber Elves he has amassed so far.
Ultimate Mode is unlocked when you’ve used all of the Cyber Elves, including Jackson. When choosing a new game to play in this mode, hold down the “R” key.
Zero enters this mode with all of the Cyber Elves’ effects turned on and no penalties! Also, from the start, all weapons are at their maximum level and completely charged, and full charged assaults may be utilized with easy button combinations. This mode’s objective is to acquire the codename “Immortal.”
